LocationWhere Antelope Acres Is

Antelope Acres sits on the flat floor of the western Antelope Valley at about 2,425 feet, roughly 64 miles from Downtown Los Angeles. The land is mostly open desert scrub. The community has a small grocery store and gas station, a church, a feed and hardware store and a volunteer fire station, and many other services come from Lancaster.

It still has an agricultural side, with livestock, field crops and a local 4-H club, alongside residents who commute to nearby cities.

PropertyWhat Kind of Property You’ll Find

  • 1Homes on larger lots

The draw is space. Lots tend to be larger than in Lancaster’s tract neighborhoods, with room for a shop, RV parking or animals.

  • 2Horse and animal property

Livestock is part of the community. Confirm what the zoning allows on the specific parcel before you buy.

  • 3Vacant land

Raw desert parcels come up for sale. Building means county permits and answers on water, power, septic and access.

  • 4Manufactured homes

If a property has one, check how it is titled and whether it sits on a permanent foundation, since both affect financing.

Before you buyWhat to Check on a Rural Parcel

  • Water source

Is the home on a private well, a shared well or a water company? Ask for well records and test results.

  • Septic

Most rural homes use septic. Get a septic inspection, and ask about permits for any additions.

  • Zoning and permits

Look up the parcel with LA County Regional Planning to confirm zoning, animal rules and permitted structures.

  • Roads, fire and insurance

Check road access and maintenance, the parcel’s fire hazard zone and insurance cost. Redfin, citing First Street, rates 86% of ZIP 93536 properties at severe wildfire risk.

SchoolsSchools

Del Sur Senior Elementary, a TK–8 school in the Westside Union School District, is at 9023 West Avenue H. High schools are part of the Antelope Valley Union High School District. Confirm school assignments for a specific address with the district.

OutdoorsOutdoors and Getting Around

The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, a state natural reserve, is west of Antelope Acres; its visitor center is half a mile north of 150th Street West and Lancaster Road. Spring bloom brings crowds, so expect more traffic on the west-valley roads in March and April.

SR-138 (Avenue D) runs along the north edge of the community. Lancaster, its shopping and the Metrolink station are about 13 miles southeast, and SR-14 connects south through Palmdale and Santa Clarita.

MarketPrices: What the Data Can and Can’t Tell You

No public source reports prices for Antelope Acres by itself, and few homes sell there in any month. The closest figure is ZIP 93536: Redfin reports a median sale price of $530,844 for the three months ending September 2026, down 3.5% from a year earlier, with $261 per square foot and a median of 47 days on market. 208 homes sold in the ZIP in September.

Most of those sales are in west Lancaster and Quartz Hill, not on rural parcels. Here, value depends on lot size, water, outbuildings and condition, so a price based on a few nearby rural sales will be more useful than any ZIP median.
